Happy Wednesday Y'all! It's almost March so you know what that means....Hal's St. Paddy's Day Parade and Festival is coming to town! According to Malcolm White, it's more than a celebration, but a 40-year tradition that brings the community together and honors our rich heritage in Jackson. Many families over the years have made this a yearly tradition by going out early and setting up tents to claim their spot before the parade! 

On Saturday March 23rd, the 41st annual Hals' St. Paddy's Day Parade will start at 1pm on the corner of State Street and Court Street in Jackson, MS. Put on all your green and be ready for newsworthy festivities such as Grand Marshall, along with hundreds of participants making up krewes, floats, street dancing troupes, and more. The parade and festival also brings in annual funds while honoring the work of Children's of Mississippi Hospital, the state’s only children’s hospital providing state-of-the-art care to any child in need. 

It all started in the 1980s when Malcolm White and a group of friends wanted to expand on a good time and give Jackson an annual event where you dressed like characters from the plays of Tennessee Williams. Malcolm and his brother, Hal White, turned it into a Mardis Gras and Rites of Spring celebration with a Mississippi twist to make it special to Mississippi. It was named in honor of Hal and over the years has brought in thousands of people to downtown Jackson each year.

​Happy Friday Y’all! For today’s blog I wanted to share with everyone about the 17th annual Mississippi Blues Marathon. This is a Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k Road Race, 5k Road Race, and a Marathon Relay held right here in Jackson! 

The Mississippi Blues Marathon features live blues musicians playing around the course and at the finish line. This race is all about honoring musicians who have made history over the years and continue to shape the blues today. 

This annual event will be held on Saturday, February 24 at the Mississippi State Capitol Complex, 500 High Street, Jackson, MS. The Marathon and Half Marathon Relay will begin at 7:30am. 10k and 5k then later start at 8am. 

This is a fun marathon atmosphere you don’t want to miss out on, even if it’s just you enjoying the music and cheering on the racers! The Mississippi Blues Marathon is a way to appreciate the blues and continue to let it inspire all those around!

Happy Tuesday and Galentine’s Day! Today I wanted to share with y’all a fun event for you and your gals to celebrate womanhood, inspire, and empower each other while enjoying delicious food! Happy Friday y’all! Today I wanted to share with everyone about a family-friendly event that comes to town every year and is always a personal favorite of mine. If you haven’t guessed it yet, I am talking about the Dixie National Rodeo!
 
The Dixie National Rodeo started in 1965 in Jackson, making this year its 59th year! Every time the rodeo comes to town, hundreds of people locally and from the entire state travel to Jackson for the rodeo events, concerts, and more.
 
Starting today and ending on February 17th, The Dixie National Rodeo will take place at the Mississippi Colosseum and throughout the Fairgrounds. Each day is filled with several different events and shows for everyone to attend along with concerts to wrap up the night this and next weekend only. This weekend’s performers include Colin Stough and Connor Smith on Friday February 9th, Tracy Byrd on Saturday February 10th, and Chris Cagle on Sunday February 11th. Other performers such as Meghan Moroney and Corey Kent will perform on nights next week.
