Women's Health with Valley Hildebrand

What sets your soul on fire? Who do you spend time with that brings out the best in you? Where do you go that "fills your cup"? As we mature, we learn how important self-care can be to our well-being. It is necessary that we focus on the integrative aspects of our mental, physical and emotional health. It is common in our culture to wait until something is wrong or there is a physical problem to invest in self-care. This can lead us to treat symptoms of our health rather than causes.
When we nurture our mind, body, and spirit collectively out whole health and happiness improve. Mental health also includes emotional changes like depression, irritability and anxiety. These emotional changes can be related to life stressors, past events or hormone imbalances. These imbalances can lead to the onset or excessive "brain fog", lack of concentration or fatigue. It is important to discuss these issues with your women's health care provider. You can have your hormones evaluated for imbalances and discuss possible treatment options to optimize your hormones. We can nurture our mental well-being with continuing education, brain games, reading or traveling. We can also "turn off" and rest our busy minds with meditation, prayer and exercise. Some of benefit from talk therapy with a trained therapist, family member or close friend.
Our bodies are ever changing and require balanced nutrition and exercise to enhance their prime function. Vitamin deficiencies can also lead to excessive fatigue. These deficiencies can also be tested and restored with proper nutrition or supplementation if indicated. Nutritional health includes a well-balanced diet that provides our bodies with the energy that we need without leading to increased weight gain or fatigue. Take the time to discuss your diet with your women's health provider to determine which foods and/or supplements are best for you based on any allergies or intolerances. Exercising three to four times weekly for a minimum of 45 minutes is suggested for heart health, weight, and stress management. Our bodies require physical exercise to function at their peak performance. Exercised like walking, yoga, and pilates can help improve mobility, strength and bone density. We should also take time for preventative physical wellness like yearly gynecological exams and mammograms when indicated. These routine screenings can prevent most chronic illnesses with early detection.
We can also nurture our spirit by surrounding ourselves with love and others that lift us up. We can invest in our community and church with our gifts and talents. The rewards of a spiritual community are continous and can bring immeasurable joy not only to yourself but to those around you. Take time to take care of yourself, you deserve it.

Rachel and Jake met through mutual friends while both out one night. "Years into our relationship, Jake told me that he almost ended up not going out that night but decided to go at the very last minute." laughs Rachel. After being introduced that night, they instantly hit it off. "We've been together ever since! The journey of our love story truly resulted in a wonderful serendipity." says Rachel.
They chose The South warehouse for the appealing fact that they could have their ceremony and reception at the same location. They loved the modern industrial chic venue and knew that it would provide the perfect vibe for their wedding. "For our reception, we really wanted it to be one big cocktail party. We wanted people to be up dancing, mingling and having a great time. With that in mind, I instantly knew that there was only one venue for us," smiles Rachel.

A birthday to remember, that’s exactly what Ashley Nader Stubbs had to celebrate turning 35. Ashley and 6 of her closest friends spent a night indoors “glamping” in style. We’re talking wine tastings, charcuterie boards, fabulous tee-pee tents and elegant pajama sets.
For anyone looking for an incredible way to spend quality time with your girlfriends in a gorgeous and relaxing setting, this would be a perfect birthday for you, too!

YAZOO, MISSISSIPPI

Joining together two very close families, Julia Thompson and Michael Massey's rehearsal dinner was everything that they could have wanted. "We wanted it to be simple, but elegant," says Mary Kay Phillips, mother of Michael. "We are both rural farm families and we wanted as much of the outside as we could get! I think the farm tables were so beautiful and just made the setting gorgeous."
