L O U I S V I L L E , M I S S I S S I P P I It’s Memorial Day Weekend and we know you want to pack the weekend with as much fun as possible! If you find yourself in or around Louisville, we suggest visiting the 40th Annual Red Hills Festival. The Festival starts with the Friday Night Street Party followed by the Annual Red Hills Festival on Saturday, May 29th. There you see local artists and vendors on full display, and you’ll be able to get anything from handmade jewelry, candles, furniture, outdoor art, and much more. Would it be a Mississippi festival if there weren’t amazing eats?! You can expect dozens of vendors and a wide variety of cuisines, so there should be a little something to please everyone’s appetite! If that hasn’t reeled you in, maybe the Red Hills Car Show will. Check out over 100 cars and trucks of all makes and models. There’s a variety of judging categories, so you are sure to see some one-of-a-kind entries this year. To top it all off, there is a 5K Run and a Fun Run starting in downtown Louisville. There will definitely be something for everyone all Red Hills Festival needs is you! You can head to the Louisville/Winston County, MS Chamber of Commerce website, and don’t forget to tag us in all your photos if you make it out there!
H A T T I E S B U R G , M I S S I S S I P P I Hattiesburg is celebrating 22 years of crawfish, music, art, and community on the 22nd. That’s right, this year’s Annual Downtown Crawfish Jam (DCJ) is back and better than ever! The DCJ is one of several fun neighborhood events hosted by the Hattiesburg Historic Neighborhood throughout the year and serves as their largest fundraiser for the Walthall Foundation. All proceeds will be reinvested into the downtown Hattiesburg area through Historic Preservation Projects, upkeep, and more.
Festivities will kick off at 11am at Walthall Park, and you can expect a day full of live music and a stomach full of good eats and drinks. Included in the ticket price is admission to this killer event along with access to all musical acts and all-you-can-eat crawfish, burgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and more. This is, of course, a family friendly event complete with a Kids Zone. They will not be selling tickets the day of the event, so be sure to purchase tickets for you and your whole crew in advance. It’s going to be a nice sunshiny weekend, perfect for the 22nd Annual Downtown Crawfish Jam. For more information, head to the Visit Hattiesburg website or you can purchase your tickets on Eventbrite. R I D G E L A N D , M I S S I S S I P P I Your Thursday just got way more fun! Our friends at Renaissance at Colony Park are hosting a fun, open air event Sip & Shop. This Thursday, May 20th from 4-7pm you and your crew will be able to enjoy live music, shopping, and your favorite Renaissance eats all while basking in this beautiful weather. Big bonus - your first sip is completely free. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, the night will be capped off with a free concert from The Molly Ringwalds on the Show Fountain Stage. Don’t forget to bring your blankets and lawn chairs so you can jam out, but please leave the coolers at home. It’s going to be the perfect way to kickoff summer break, and we can’t wait to see you there. For more information, check out Renaissance at Colony Park on social media.
F L O W O O D , M I S S I S S I P P I The sun is out and beach plans have been booked. We want to make sure you check off one of the most important things from your packing list: sunscreen. Not to be a downer, but every time you take a walk, catch some fresh air, or layout poolside, you’re exposing yourself to harmful UV radiation. The best way to protect your gorgeous face is to slather on some broad-spectrum sunscreen in the morning and reapply as needed throughout the day. We asked our friends at SKIN the Spa at Runnels Center for their top picks. We’ve listed all five below. And when you’re ready to pick some up, head to SKIN in Flowood, MS, or give them a call at 601-348-7984.
F L O W O O D , M I S S I S S I P P I Music, space jumps, petting zoo, kid’s karaoke. Did we catch your attention? If so, then this year’s Flowood Family Festival is just the thing for you and yours. The gates will open at 4 PM, with space jumps and activities for the kids and will feature food vendors from local Flowood restaurants. And what better way to close out the night than a beautiful, eye catching fireworks display. Kick off summer right with the city of Flowood at their annual Flowood Family Festival.
