J A C K S O N , M I S S I S S I P P I Something new is cooking at the District at Eastover! Jackson’s staple pizza joint, Sal and Mookies, has made the move and they are now open. The beautifully renovated space will be serving up all of your favorites from New York-style slices to decadent scoops of your favorite ice cream. This first week, their doors are open for dine-in only, so they’ll have time to get moving and grooving and tossing up some of the finest pizzas you ever did see. When you’re ready you can pop in and take a seat at one of their high-top tables, or get nice and comfy in the outdoor lounge area. Where ever you decided to sit, we encourage you to COME HUNGRY! While Sal and Mookies is in a new building, they’re still whipping up their hearty portions with their signature family feel. We know, we know, your mouth is watering. Scroll through some of the photos of their beautiful restaurant, courtesy of owner Jeff Good. And when you go, tell them Inspiration Mississippi sent you.
C L A R K S D A L E , M I S S I S S I P P I Your favorite local festival is back! Make your way to Clarksdale this weekend for Juke Joint Festival. If you’ve never been it’s "half blues festival, half small-town fair and all about the Delta." What better way to celebrate Mississippi’s music history than by presenting dozens of blues acts — including many Mississippi and Southern greats. Juke Joint Festival has been featured in the New York Times and seen on PBS NewsHour, and with safety precautions in place, this year’s event is sure to be unlike any other! There will be blues music (of course), juke joints (duh!), children's events, a live radio show, monkeys riding dogs, racing pigs, and more. We know you’re sold! Head to their website to purchase tickets, view the lineup, and plan your weekend in Clarksdale, MS.
J A C K S O N , M I S S I S S I P P I After last year’s postponement, the Friends of Children’s Hospital are excited to announce the 5th Annual Over the Edge with Friends Fundraiser. Over the Edge is an event unlike any other! Thrill-seekers from all over will make their way to Jackson to rappel down the side of a 5-story building in an effort to raise much-needed funds to support the sick and injured children of Batson Children’s Hospital and Children’s of Mississippi. Their team is hard at work crafting a fun community event that meets all CDC guidelines. So you can cheer on these amazing volunteers in total safety, or maybe you want to take a step on the wild side.
E A S T E R W E E K E N D "Christ proved God’s passionate love for us by dying in our place while we were still lost and ungodly! And there is still much more to say of his unfailing love for us!" Romans 5:8-9 (TPT) Easter is almost here and we can’t help but reflect on the love God has so lavishly poured out on us. Through some big ups and some major downs, God has remained faithful. In the last year, we’ve seen God move through our amazing community whether it was through buying boxed lunches for first responders or crowdfunding to keep our local business open. We’ve seen loved ones pull through disease and viruses, but we’ve also seen how willing we all are to rally behind families who have lost loved ones. It’s in these times, we want to take a moment to boast of God’s unfailing love and how it works through this incredible community.
It is this divine love that allows us to move with every bend and curve of life, and it’s this same, divine love that remains at the core of who we are. Our desire is to be light in the darkness and inspire each of you to take that extra step forward during these unprecedented times. This Easter we pray you get to spend time surrounded by loved ones, reflect on Jesus’s sacrifice, and remember to take it to the cross whenever trials come. Happy Easter, Inspiration family. We are so unbelievably grateful for y’all! |
