The sisters of Delta Gamma at Mississippi State University are getting together to do what they do best, support a sister in need.  They are dedicating this whole week to raising money for Avery Douglass, a Senior at MSU who was recently diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Sweet Avery learned of her diagnosis this past December, and despite the diagnosis, the 22-year-old has remained positive. In the face of cancer and treatment, she has smiled, laughed, and leaned into her incredible family and community.

Ice and Vice: Frozen Yogurt with a Cause

What is better than fro-yo on a warm Mississippi night? Fro-yo with a cause, and that’s where Ice and Vice comes in.  Ice and Vice is one of the newest dessert shops to open in Madison, Mississippi, and they specialize in frozen yogurt (ice) and coffee (vice) among other delicious treats.  Each week they’re whipping up classic flavors as well as some custom, some sugar-free, and some vegan. Trust us, they are all delicious.

For us, the true cherry on top is the heart behind this small business. Owners Sarah and Justin Harmon opened their shop with the intent of giving back to those touched by foster care or adoption.  All of their employees have either adopted children, worked in the field, been in care, or are adopted. “It’s very close to our heart,” the couple shared on Facebook.  They seek to provide a trauma-sensitive environment that allows each employee to pick up soft skills and gain work experience all while being immersed in a loving community.  “Life can be hard and we want our store to be a safe place for everyone to grow and learn. We also want it to be a safe, cozy place for you to relax and make memories as well.”
You and your family can start making memories at Ice and Vice Sunday-Thursday from 11am to 9pm and Friday-Saturday from 11am-midnight.  Give their Facebook page a like and scroll through all their decadent dessert options.
