Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program

During the holiday season, it is always so important to give back, especially to your local community, as the holidays are a time of giving rather than receiving!

This year, Gifts by KPEP is partnering up with Salvation Army for the annual Angel Tree Program! Each year, Salvation Army asks local communities to choose an angel off of their tree and use their angel’s wish list as a guide when shopping for them. You do not have to buy everything on the angel’s wish list but the main goal is for every child or adult to receive at least two of their requested items.

Gifts by KPEP will also have their very own tree with several angels on it thanks to Salvation Army! Come and shop with, choose your very own angel and bring their presents back to Gifts by KPEP unwrapped so we can deliver them to Salvation Army for you. Also, with every angel that you fulfill, you will receive 20% off your entire purchase! Salvation Army requests that all angels be dropped off by the beginning of next week so they can start distributing to those in the Jackson-metro area.

Again, it is so incredibly important to give back this time of year so that everyone can experience the magic of the holidays. The Westin Jackson's Festival fo Trees

Happy Thursday y’all! With the holiday season officially here, we want to keep all of our blog reader’s in the know about upcoming family-friendly events that really capture the holiday spirit.

This year, The Westin Jackson will be hosting the 6th Annual Festival of Tree, benefiting The Boys and Girls Club of Central Mississippi! Each year, a local charity is selected by The Westin Jackson where all donations and proceeds go directly to that charity as a way to give back directly to the community during the holiday season.

In just a few weeks, local businesses will join together at The Westin Jackson, where they will decorate their own individual tree however they please too. All the trees will line up the hotel lobby as each tree is unique in their own way. Voting for “Best Of” will remain open all month log for visitors to cast their votes for their favorite trees.

The festival of tree will begin with decorating on November 30th, with a tree lighting ceremony form 5:30-7:00. There will also be a series of events that are open to the public to help spread the holiday spirit this season. An ice skating will be available from November 30th up until December 18th where local families are invited enjoy a classic winter experience with the ones they love. Tickets will be $5 a person and can be purchased at the rink. All proceeds will then be donated to the Ronald McDonald House of Mississippi. For more dates and times, you can visit

The Westin Jackson will also be hosting the Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Party, as mentioned in last week’s blog. Tickets can be purchased directly on Ballet Mississippi’s website and will take place Saturday December 2nd and 3rd from 12:00-2:00. There will also be a brunch with Santa on December 10th and December 17th from 11:00-1:00 at Estelle Southern Table. Santa will be in attendance to take photos and hear everyone’s Christmas wishes this year. Reservation can be made through Open Table and are available for purchase now!

All of these wonderful holiday events hosted by The Westin Jackson are the perfect way to spend quality time with the ones you love this season. Thankful Thursday Food Drive

Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away and it is that time of year we are reminded what we are thankful. The holiday season is also a time where it is most important to give back to those in our communities who are in need.

On Thursday November 16th, Kendall Poole Ellis is teaming up with His Heart Ministries to start a new community tradition at Reunion Beach in Madison, MS. Thankful Thursday Food Drive is a way to bring everyone together to help give Thanksgiving dinners back to families in the Jackson area.

His Heart Ministries is a non-profit organization in Jackson, MS that is able to feed over 80 families every year at Thanksgiving. They do amazing work all year round to build strong community relationships through faith, love, hope, and friendship.

Thankful Thursday is a family-friendly event where those can bring canned food or non-perishables to ensure that families in the Jackson area can enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner with their loved ones. The food drive will begin at 5:00 P.M. at Reunion Beach with a movie showing of Free Birds. There will also be several food trucks like Mo’Betta Dessert Bar and Red Zone Express.

Please join us next Thursday for night full of family fun and reminders as to what we are thankful for. It is also asked that you bring your own chairs and blankets to enjoy a movie night on the beach. The goal is to collect 350 cans of food as His Heart Ministries will be providing the turkeys so please make sure to bring plenty of canned goods as that is the main purpose of Thankful Thursday! Happy Tuesday y’all! The holiday season is quickly approaching, and we just want to share all of this season’s events that are going on to feel all the holiday joy!

This year marks the 41st Anniversary of Ballet Mississippi’s The Nutcracker! Every year, Ballet Mississippi puts on an amazing and breathtaking performance of a Christmas classic, and they truly capture the magic that The Nutcracker holds.

At Thalia Mara Hall from December 1st until December 3rd, you can kick off the holiday season by joining Ballet Mississippi with family and friends for an experience like no other. Tickets are on sale and are going fast, so make sure to head on over to their website at balletms.com/event for more details and information.

Make sure to also check out the Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Party on December 2nd and 3rd at The Westin in Jackson for an afternoon of elegance and all things whimsical. The Township at Colony Park's Christmas Open House

Happy Thursday y’all! For today’s blog I wanted to share with everyone about The Township at Colony Park’s 20th Annual Christmas Open House!

The Township at Colony Park’s Christmas Open House is a great way to kick off the holiday season and the perfect event for family and friends to gather at. The Christmas Open House will be held on Thursday November 30th from 5:00-8:00 at The Township in Ridgeland.

Join The Township at Colon Park for a day full of holiday cheer! Santa will be there to take photos, along with horse carriage rides, face painting, a life-size snow globe and snow! There will also be tasting from Anjou, hot cocoa at Fusion Coffeehouse, and live music.

This is also the perfect event for children as Elsa and Anna will be there, the chance to write letters to Santa, and Christmas crafts. There will be something for everyone to enjoy to get in the holiday spirit, no matter the age!
