Heather and Daniel met in Madison, Ms during high school, so it was only fitting for the two of them to marry there. They chose the gorgeous Chapel of the Cross for their ceremony and the Annandale Golf Club for their reception. Heather did not want to follow in the footsteps of those around her and opted for the elegant, classic wedding instead of one with a country flair. Heather had already picked out a lace dress that she thought was "the one," but since their engagement was long she held off on purchasing it. After trying on hundreds of dresses throughout their year and a half engagement, Heather's mother found the perfect dress on a mannequin and knew she must try it on!

One week later, Daniel received a job offer across the country, so the wedding was moved up six months!

When Heather was at Imagination's Bridal, she tried on a dress that was a blush color. She immediately knew her color scheme and that her flowers had to include blush colored roses. She wanted them to be everywhere!

The bride and groom's favorite part of their wedding day came after the reception. They drove off in a fancy car but they did not make it far. They just stopped in the middle of the road and soaked in the gorgeous Mississippi night. For the first time all day, everything slowed down. It was just the two of them and they took a moment to soak it all in and reminisce about their perfect day!

The Salvation Army began in London in 1865 by a man named William Booth. At the time, one had to pay for their pew at church to be able to attend, so only rich were allowed. Booth did not agree with this and began to preach to the people on the streets of East London. He began to bring thieves, prostitutes, gamblers and drunkards to Jesus. The churches still did not accept his kind of followers, but he never gave up his mission to spread the word of Jesus.

The name "Salvation Army" came about one day when Booth was proofreading an annual report. There was a line in the report that read "The christian mission is a volunteer army." His son loved the line but said that he was not a volunteer but a regular. And with that, the "Salvation Army" was named in 1878. Salvation Army is now located in 126 countries and nearly 30 million Americans receive assistance from the organization each year.

The Salvation Army of Greater Jackson is committed to breaking the cycle of entitlement that has crippled and destroyed generations of families here in Mississippi. They offer a hand up to anyone who is willing to grow and change towards a better life by educating, inspiring and ministering.

The Salvation Army serves the Greater Jackson area 365 days a year in many ways:

• Each Sunday at the Worship and Service Center, there is Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Worship Service at 10:50 a.m. Both are open to the public. They also have Wednesday night children's programs and on Thursdays, they offer adult choir and bible study.

• The Center of Hope provides shelter and food for the homeless. Those who enter the center are breathalyzed and drug tested and are required to work or be out looking for work Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. These are people who have lost their jobs, lost their homes, are recovering addicts or people who have just been released from prison and do not have any where to go. It is a place to help people get back on their feet.

• There are after school programs and summer camps for children where each child is helped to develop confidence that they may not receive at home. The programs also teach the children a number of different sports and an array of musical instruments.

• On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, seniors can come to the center for worship and fellowship.
• The public can come in Monday through Friday to apply for food from their food pantry, get utilities and get rent assistance.

• When there is a disaster, The Salvation Army is the first on the scene. Their staff members, ordained ministers and trained counselors are on site for spiritual and emotional support. They are also there to help clean up, provide clothing to disaster victims and help in any way that they can.

• The Family Store here in Jackson, MS provides quality clothing, furniture and other goods to members of the community at bargain prices.

The Salvation Army also helps the community in a huge way during the Christmas season. This year, the Salvation Army of Jackson will help 4,000 + children have a Christmas through their Angel Tree project! That is amazing!!

You can pick up an Angel Tree child at one of the following locations: Northpark Mall, Highland Village, both Kroger locations in Flowood, Fitness Lady and Newks. Once your gifts have been purchased and returned to the Angel Tree location (or to The Salvation Army at 110 Presto Lane), the gifts are wrapped by the Salvation Army "Elves" at the Tom Kelly Toy Shop. To volunteer as an "Elf" simply go to www.salvationarmyjackson.org, click on the "Angel Tree Helper" tab under the "Get Involved" tab.

You can also help the Salvation Army's holiday efforts by volunteering with their Red Kettle Campaign. All of the money raised by this campaign goes to help with immediate needs within the local community. To volunteer to ring a bell for the campaign, simply go to www.salvationarmyjackson.org , click on "Ring a Kettle Bell" under the "Get Involved" tab.

Ryan and Ty wanted a super laid back atmosphere with a rustic, vintage vibe for their wedding day festivities and the RootBeer Saloon in Sumrall, MS provided just that.  The two of them simply wanted their friends and family to be comfortable and enjoy themselves as they all celebrated their big day. Ryan put her creativity and DIY skills to great use for their wedding day! With a love for all things vintage, she created all of the signage, her vintage broach bouquet and even made the one of kind bouquets and boutonnieres out of scrapbook paper and sheet music.

Between the two of them, Ryan and Ty have quite the collection of Chuck Taylor's. So, of course, they had to add custom "husband" and "wife" Chucks to their collection! However, Ryan's mother did not want her to wear them for the ceremony, so Ty picked out the adorable heels that Ryan wore. (He has some pretty great taste, we'd say!!)

Ryan and Ty met when she would go with friends to watch his band play. Ty was the lead guitarist, and Ryan admired him from afar until one night he asked her on a date!!

Their love for music inspired quite a few of the details of their wedding day. They had a guitar for their guests to sign. The bouquets and birdseed holders were made of sheet music. And they had only one option for their reception music, the extremely talented Justin and Amie Nunez. The two of them provided the perfect atmosphere with their folky, bluegass tunes.

Guest Post: Lindsay MartinNez of Gluten Free Girl MS

Planning a menu for a wedding reception can be challenging enough.  Bring food allergies into the mix and that is when it gets all kinds of confusing.  Do you plan food that everybody can enjoy, even your gluten free or dairy free relatives?  Do you pick and choose menu items so that some of the food is safe for guests with allergies, while the rest is not?  What if you suffer from food allergies yourself? 

As a gluten free bride, I can tell you that I struggled with this decision when planning my own wedding.  Most of my female relatives suffer from Celiac Disease, an auto-immune disorder that affects your body’s ability to digest gluten.  Both my husband and I are gluten intolerant; if I eat even a sauce with gluten in it, I will sometimes be down for the count for days at a time.  So when planning time came around, I had a decision to make.  How would I plan a menu that all of our guests would enjoy, gluten free or not?  

Here are some menu options that everybody on your guest list will enjoy, with or without food allergies:

{QUESADILLAS} These classic, easy to eat finger foods are super easy to serve at a wedding.  For a gluten free version, offer quesadillas made with corn tortillas rather than flour. This is an easy substitution without sacrificing deliciousness!

{MASHED POTATO BAR} If you love potatoes as much as I do, then this option will be a no-brainer for you!  Plus, potatoes are gluten free!  Consider placing add-on items at your mashed potato bar like cheese, sour cream and bacon for guests who want to load their potatoes with goodness. 

{CHEESE } It is not a great option for dairy free guests, but for those of us who just avoid gluten, cheese is always a great pick-up food at a wedding. If you serve with crackers, you could consider having gluten free crackers as well as regular “gluten-y” ones.  Just be sure to keep them separated and well labeled so guests know which ones to choose! 

{BACON WRAPPED FOOD} First, let it be said that I love some bacon!  So when you wrap another item in bacon, I am all about it.  Especially when those items are served as small pick-up appetizers.  Cute and yummy!  Gluten free options include scallops, shrimp and even pineapple. (Bet you didn’t see that last one coming!)

{MEAT CARVING STATION} Just like cheese, meat is always a delicious option for gluten free guests.  Even your dairy free guests will enjoy it!  (Though the vegetarians will probably stick to the cheese and potatoes).  Turkey, ham and roast beef are pretty standard options.  Consider having miniature rolls available for those guests who eat gluten to enjoy a mini sandwich with their meat.

{THE CAKE} With gluten free lifestyles becoming more and more common, there are lots of bakeries that cater to the gluten free community and offer delicious gluten free cakes and cupcakes.   If you want a traditional wedding cake, consider having your bakery make a small gluten free version for you so you can actually taste your own cake at your wedding.  Or, for those less traditional brides out there, why not opt for a rice krispy wedding cake?  They are gluten free and easy to make and all of your guests will enjoy it, whether they are gluten intolerant or not.

At the end of the day, your wedding is still all about two people: you and your soon-to-be hubby.  If the two of you decide to serve a completely vegan, dairy and gluten free menu, that’s okay!  If you decide to disregard allergies completely when planning your menu, that’s fine too!  The reality is, you’ll be so happy you just married the man of your dreams that you won’t even be thinking about food by the time the reception rolls around!
