Mississippi's premier running event, the Mississippi Blues Marathon is set to take place on the final Saturday this month, the 27th. The 2018 race will be the eleventh installment of the event, which has attracted runners from all 50 states and more than 15 countries. The Mississippi Blues Marathon events include of a marathon, half-marathon, quarter marathon, 5k and marathon relay. The event benefits the Musician’s Benevolent Fund of the Mississippi Blues Commission and is sponsored by Continental Tire of the Americas.
This year’s event has participants from 46 states and over seven different countries so far. If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to become more active, come get inspired by the runners (and walkers!) participating in this year’s race. The race starts and ends at The Art Garden at the Mississippi Museum of Art in downtown Jackson at 7:00 am. Live music before, during, and after the race make this event unique and so much fun!
The fun doesn’t end with the completion of the race! Saturday night there will be a Blues Crawl, taking you around Jackson’s favorite music locales to hear even more live music. Every runner will receive admission to the Blues Crawl included in their race packet, but non runners can purchase a wristband for $10 the day of the race at the merchandise tent located at the Mississippi Museum of Art.

The Mississippi Blues Marathon is such a unique and inspiring event within Jackson and the entire southeast. The Mississippi Blues Marathon was selected for the 2018 RRCA Southern Region Marathon Championship. Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas are all included in the RRCA southern region.
