The Mississippi Blues Marathon is a one-of-a-kind race set to the tune of, you guessed it, Mississippi blues! Taking place in our capital city, this marathon showcases the rich Blues history of our state all while raising money for the Mississippi Blues Commission’s Musicians’ Benevolent Fund. Many of Mississippi’s older blues musicians are living in extreme poverty, and they are in need of food, shelter, medical care, and other assistance. This fund helps meet the needs of our native creators and artists. 100% of donations to the Benevolence Fund go directly toward providing money and resources to our blues community. It’s a race that has rhythm and heart!
So if you’re wanting to sign up, here’s what you can expect. There are several levels to the race so the experienced and the novice runner can hit the pavement! the Mississippi Blues Marathon gives you an opportunity to run the Marathon, Half-Marathon, Quarter Marathon, 5K or Marathon Relay. We love to see options! And if you’re not a runner, don’t worry. This race is also one giant party! The streets are lined with supporters cheering on their loved ones, and live musicians play throughout the day.
