Radiant Orchid has been chosen as the "Color of the Year" by Pantone for 2014. All of the top colors are rich and vibrant, but radiant orchid stands out and is so unique. It is the perfect combination of purple, fuchsia and hints of pink which makes for the most feminine shade.
Joseph, originally from New Orleans, and Rachael, a huge fan, knew that their love for the great city had to be incorporated into their wedding day. The two of them chose Galloway United Methodist Church in downtown Jackson for their ceremony. They both knew they wanted to marry in a church and fell in love with Galloway's old charm and cathedral feel. It also has a gorgeous lighted cross at the alter that they both loved. For the reception, the two of them chose the Old Capitol Inn. The site gives off the perfect New Orleans vibe they were looking for with it's gorgeous courtyard, black awnings and beautiful black iron railing. Not to mention, Chef Cain's specialty is cajun food! Check out some of our favorite shots of their wedding day captured by David Legg Photography. Planning was easy for Rachael and Joseph as far as details were concerned. For flowers, Rachael knew she loved anything simple, classic and elegant and went with a gorgeous combination of white hydrangea, vendella roses, and lambs ear. The food would be cajun and that just so happened to be their Chef's specialty! But finding the perfect dress was no easy task. Rachael tried on 25+ gowns of all different fabrics, styles and designers, before she found the stunning gown she chose. She fell in love with it instantly! Rachael's favorite accessory was the vintage broach that accented the stem of her bouquet. The broach was given to her by her mother who wanted to start a family tradition and have Rachael pass it along to her children one day.
The rules for attending a wedding: {1} Be on time {2} Celebrate the marriage of your dear friends/family {3} Keep it classy. Simple enough, right? You would think so, but it seems that all manners go out the window sometimes. Perhaps it is the small town gossiper inside of us or maybe it's the amount of drinks served? We aren't sure, but below are some humorous tips on what to do and what not to do when attending a wedding. {The Ceremony} First and foremost, arrive (at least) 30 minutes early for the ceremony. The time stated on the invitation is the time that the bride will be walking down the aisle. Do not be the guy that has to wait for the entire processional to be done before you even take a seat! (Once the processional begins, be quiet!) Secondly, please make sure your phone is on silent... or turned off... Or better yet, leave it in your car! Once again, you don't want to be "that guy" whose phone starts blaring Marvin Gay during the middle of the wedding vows. Speaking of cell phones, no photos during the ceremony! This is not a concert and there's a reason they hired the professionals. And for the love... do not wear white. Seriously, no one in attendance should have on a white dress except the bride. It's as simple as that! Speaking of attire, please keep it classy. We all have that crazy aunt and/or friend who shows up dressed a little too scantily clad. Do not let that be you! Remember, this is not your day and you are not supposed to be the center of attention. The bride is! {The Reception}
If you are attending the reception, be sure you have attended the wedding first. Be there when the couple cuts the cake and has their first dance! Do not talk negatively about the bride, the groom or their taste in decor. Remember, it is not your day! It's their day and their wedding reflects the two of them as a couple. Do not complain about the drink or food options that are available. Once again, the bride and groom chose the food and beverages that they like. Simply enjoy! They are free to you, after all. Do not over drink. I know it can be a challenge sometimes when there is an open bar, but you do not want to be "that girl" doing the worm in a dress or "that guy" who is still doing keg stands behind the bar. If the couple has a #weddinghashtag they are using to document the fun had by all of their guests, please make sure to keep your photos appropriate. No one needs to see how (insert name here) had a little too much fun and is now spending the night next to the toilet. Those are not the photos they are looking for! Don't pick up the microphone. It rarely goes well. And last, but most certainly not least, absolutely NO divorce bets should be made while in attendance!!! {HAPPY NEW YEAR} Well, 2014 is here and looks to be a good one.
