Mississippi artists have the ability to capture the genuineness of the people in their work and Elizabeth is no exception. When asked about her favorite thing about living this great state she replied, "We are a people of imagination. I am so grateful everyday for the exposure I have to kindness, inclusiveness, support and creativity. Ours is a story unlike most. Seen often as judgmental and exclusive, we are at once; both amazingly generous of spirit and passionate about creating community. We walk on rich soil."
Elizabeth Robinson's first medium as an artist was music, not glass. As an eager young girl, she spent hours learning how to play string and percussion instruments from generous musicians in the Louisville community. That passion carried her through college and to Jackson where she quickly found herself falling for a new medium. "Faith placed me outside of Pearl River Glass Studio. A resume in my hand a friend's connection, Andy Young, the owner, allowed me into his remarkable group of artists using glass as their art medium. I was immediately attracted to the material and to the dedication of these artists. I could hear "music" in the glass. The back-beat in the shadows of light moving from pale to dark. This rhythm of colors moving across the pieces was magical and I was hooked," smiles Elizabeth. SpiritHouseGlass was brought forth from Elizabeth's desire to establish her own voice as an artist. Glass is a fickle medium, requiring the utmost attention to detail, patience, and determination. The final product is dependent on the character of the raw material and is ultimately a reflection of Elizabeth's identity as an artist. Recently, SpiritHouseGlass has launched a new collection, GarnishXO. "These new pieces, GarnishXO, bring all my years of experience into a personal art statement. As an artist I need to create pieces that speak to my view of the world but I also want my work to evoke experiences from the observer's view," says Elizabeth. The first line in this new collection, Kinfolk, does exactly that. "I have set out to bring a simple elegance to tableware inviting a touch of nostalgia - your grandmother's apron, a treasured cloth. An invitation to share a meal. The name - GarnishXO means 'garnish with love'. I want you to gather the family, friends and food and let our artwork provide the garnish." Mississippi artists have the ability to capture the genuineness of the people in their work and Elizabeth is no exception. We walk on rich soil." Highschool sweethearts and Clarksdale natives, Meri Claire and Derek knew that their hometown was the only place for their celebration. "We never considered getting married anywhere but our hometown," smiles Meri Claire. Aiming to do something a little different, the couple chose to have their reception in a space that once was Derek's elementary school gymnasium. The Norman Brown Commons Building provided a wide, open space that was largely customizable. "Our vendors transformed the space into an absolute fairy tale. Derek and I were in awe of the perfectly stunning room. The transformation was truly phenomenal and unique," says Meri Claire. The space was elevated by hanging floral wreaths that added the perfect wow-factor. "We wanted our wedding to be memorable not just for us but for our guests as well," says Derek. INSPIRING DETAILS: The bride was adamant about keeping their love for Christ at the center of their wedding ceremony. Through careful selection of scripture and music it was made certain that the ceremony felt like a worship experience for their guests. Guests participated in a Christ Candle Ceremony in which Meri Claire and Derek spread the light from the Christ Candle to all of their guests. "My heart was overflowing as the sanctuary slowly filled with candle light. The light of Christ was filling the sanctuary and surrounding all of us there. I will never forget this amazing sight nor the love that I felt at that moment from and for my Lord and for my husband," smiles Meri Claire. Hey, y'all! Happy Tuesday! We hope that you are having a great Fourth of July week. Today, we're sharing a little background and history on the Bridal Path and the women behind this incredible business! The Bridal Path has been helping Mississippi brides feel their absolute best on their wedding day for the past 47 years. Audrey, Amelia, and Janie Jarvis have recently taken over ownership of the iconic bridal boutique and will continue to supply brides across Mississippi and the South with stunning gowns and accessories for years to come. Audrey Jarvis began working at the Bridal Path the summer after her freshman year at Mississippi State University where she was studying fashion design and merchandising. It quickly became clear that this summer job was the gateway to fulfilling childhood dreams. "Ever since I was young, I have dreamed of owning my own bridal store. I quickly fell in love with working at the Bridal Path, returning to work holidays throughout my college career," says Audrey. Amelia Jarvis, the younger of the two sisters, also got involved with the small business. Much like her older sister, her love affair for the bridal fashion industry blossomed quickly. It was this shared passion that prompted the family to purchase the store, transforming the Bridal Path into a true family business. "Working alongside my family has been an absolute blessing. All three of us play off each others own unique strengths and weaknesses to make an incredible team. Our mother, Janie, is the backbone of it all. She is excellent at managing, keeping tabs on everything, and making sure our financials are in order!" says Audrey. The Jarvis family has updated some things about the store itself including carrying more fashion forward gowns and accessories, and re-decorating the interior of the space. Despite the changes, the mission of the Bridal Path has and will remain the same. The Bridal Path is committed to providing every client with the one-on-one assistance required to find the gown of her dreams. "We are deliberate in carrying gorgeous gowns that fall into every price range. We aim to make every client feel absolutely beautiful, no matter their budget. Our mission is for every bride to walk out of our store with their dream dress and a happy heart!" smiles Audrey. The Bridal Path is located on the first floor of Banner Hall in Jackson, Mississippi.
