Our friends over at Junior League of Jackson just wrapped the holiday shopping event of the year. The 41st Annual Mistletoe Marketplace hosted thousands of visitors from across the country and provided tons of Christmas cheer! From the holiday decor to the jump on Christmas shopping, to photos with Santa, this year’s event had no shortage of dazzle and fun.
The Junior League of Jackson kicked off Mistletoe with their yearly preview gala where visitors were seen dressed to the nines. After an evening of first looks, the doors opened and families, girl gangs, and best friends shopped ‘til they dropped. Over 150 vendors participated. Each vendor provided shoppers with the opportunity to support local while offering unique items. Shoppers left with home goods, jewelry, knick-knacks, you name it and it was there. One lucky visitor even left with keys to her new car.
On top of all the fun, the Junior League of Jackson was able to raise money to help support their many charitable initiatives including Operation Shoestring, a non-profit that provides year-round academic, social, and emotional support to school-aged children in central Jackson. We love any organization that inspires and uplifts its community!
All in all, it was a beautiful and impactful experience that kicked of the holiday season just right, and we can’t wait to see what Junior League of Jackson has in store for next year’s Mistletoe Marketplace.

ANNUAL MS BLUES MARATHON

The Mississippi Blues Marathon is a one-of-a-kind race set to the tune of, you guessed it, Mississippi blues! Taking place in our capital city, this marathon showcases the rich Blues history of our state all while raising money for the Mississippi Blues Commission’s Musicians’ Benevolent Fund. Many of Mississippi’s older blues musicians are living in extreme poverty, and they are in need of food, shelter, medical care, and other assistance. This fund helps meet the needs of our native creators and artists. 100% of donations to the Benevolence Fund go directly toward providing money and resources to our blues community. It’s a race that has rhythm and heart!
So if you’re wanting to sign up, here’s what you can expect. There are several levels to the race so the experienced and the novice runner can hit the pavement! the Mississippi Blues Marathon gives you an opportunity to run the Marathon, Half-Marathon, Quarter Marathon, 5K or Marathon Relay. We love to see options! And if you’re not a runner, don’t worry. This race is also one giant party! The streets are lined with supporters cheering on their loved ones, and live musicians play throughout the day.
The Mississippi Blues Marathon takes place November 13th, and you can register by visiting their website.

Green Oak's Annual Christmas Open House

Is it ever too soon to start talking Christmas? We don’t think so, and neither do our friends at Green Oak Garden Center. Green Oak, a Mississippi staple since 1960, is preparing for their 61st Christmas Open House and they have cordially invited all of you to join in on the Christmas cheer.
If you’ve never been, trust us when we say that this is a Christmas shopping experience unlike any other. Not only do you get to walk through dazzling displays, but you also get to see all the latest holiday trends. It’s also an opportunity for you and your family to pick out a Christmas tree! And get this, Green Oak will flock, dress and deliver it to your door. Holidays are done right with Green Oak! There will be food, drinks, photos with Santa, door prizes, and so much more.
