A Jackson staple at Highland Village for 23 years, BRAVO! Italian Restaurant and Bar is getting a new look! If you haven’t heard by now (or if you haven’t seen their lighthearted YouTube video), BRAVO! will be closed from Monday, August 28th, 2017 through Monday, September 25th, 2017. Co-Owner, Jeff Good, is excited about the renovation and what’s to come! “We are teaming up with Erik Kegler and Brennan Hovell of EK Home and Katie Browning of CDFL Architects to give BRAVO! a fresh, modern look that will honor and celebrate the BRAVO! everyone loves,” continues Good. “Along with that is a commitment to bring some of our core practices into the 21st century: a new, better functioning website, an online to-go ordering option, and an updated look for the menu.”
Only BRAVO! would celebrate a closing with a party! A wine party that is! On Saturday, August 12th at 6:00 p.m., “The Closer” party will feature rare wines from the BRAVO! cellar selected by long-time sommelier Lesley McHardy, hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar. To add to the fun of “The Closer” party, guests will have chances to not only bid on a seat at their favorite table at the grand unveiling of the new BRAVO!, but also to participate in an auction for a piece of BRAVO! history; much of the furniture and accessories in BRAVO! “The only way to get a seat- or table- to the unveiling (planned for September 26th) will be to bid on it at The Closer Party,” says Susan Farris, Marketing Manager. “We’ve already had many inquiries from our long-time regulars about how they can reserve their favorite table for the reopening so they can celebrate with us that we came to realize we really had to turn this into a celebration. The energy and the joy is there,” smiles Farris. “And who doesn’t love an excuse for wine at BRAVO!?” Would you like an opportunity to bring a piece of BRAVO! history home with you? At “The Closer Party,” you can! “We also immediately had questions about what would happen to the furniture. So many people have great memories with family and friends at these tables and under these lights. Or have admired that painting or this mirror. They want to bring that history home with them,” says Farris. “Why not have some fun with it?” Tickets to “The Closer” are $60 a person or $100 per couple and can be bought on Eventbrite at https://bravo-the-closer.eventbrite.com or at BRAVO! Not too long ago, we introduced to Elam Roberson when she released her first song, Your Own Kind of Beautiful. It’s a song about being yourself. “It's about being true to who you are, stand up for others, and follow your dreams," says Elam. Elam is doing just that. She knows that this opportunity gives her a platform and she hopes that through her music, she can encourage other young people and give a voice to others that are struggling to find their way. As with any artist, her work has meaning and a story. Her newest song was released Friday, July 28, 2017. The song is entitled Stand Up. “Stand Up is about standing up for something you believe in. Whether you are standing up to bullying or standing up for a cause, you are showing kindness and inspiring others,” says Elam. PopFizz in Jackson, MS is hosting a release party today, August 1, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. A percentage of sales will be going to the Campbellbulldog Fund for Childhood Cancer Awareness and Research. “Donating a percentage of sales to the Campbellbulldog Fund was entirely Elam’s idea,” her mother Marley Roberson says. “She wanted to make a difference, to give back, and support a great cause,” she continues. "The Campbellbulldog Fund for Childhood Cancer Awareness and Research was established to help bring awareness to Childhood Cancer during the month of September, recognized worldwide as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month," says Jill Dale, co-founder of the Campbellbulldog Fund. "The Campbellbulldog Fund partners with the Children’s Cancer Clinic at Batson Hospital for Children to bring awareness about a subject that is hard to fathom, much less talk about which is children fighting for their lives and some even losing their life," Dale continues. "We hope that through raising awareness, money will be raised that will go directly into the Campbellbulldog Fund for research to help find cures for the many different types of pediatric cancer. We are thrilled Elam chose the Campbellbulldog Fund as part of her mission to give back and inspire others through her music." Come to PopFizz for your chance to meet Elam, shop, and enjoy food and fun to celebrate her newest release! To read more about Elam, click here.
