{Hometown} Flowood, MS {Event Site} The Kaplan Home {Tell us about the occasion for the event?} Our son, Easton, turned 2 years old! {What inspired your event location and theme?} Easton's love for dogs was the inspiration behind the party! {What inspired your color scheme/flowers?} We used fun, preppy boy colors for summer. {What’s your favorite event detail? Is there a story behind it?} My favorite piece of the party was probably the “Pose with the Pups” prop area. My son loved being able to “walk” the dogs and it was a unique surprise that guests enjoyed. {What was your favorite part of the event planning process?} I love planning and picking the items for parties, but I also love seeing the finished product come together. {What was your favorite moment of the event day?} The entire day was so good, it would be hard to pick a favorite moment, but we loved seeing our son’s face light up when he saw the “doggies” and all of the dog related items, and his excitement to show his family and friends how to “walk” the dogs. I feel like the kids’ favorite part was probably the puppy adoption station and the bubble machine. To celebrate National Ice Cream month in July Inspiration Mississippi, Sal & Mookie’s, and Brown Bottling have joined together to benefit Friends of Children’s Hospital. During the entire month of July, 15% of all ‘Batson Sundae’ sales at Sal & Mookie’s will be donated to Friends of Children’s Hospital benefiting Batson Children’s Hospital. Jeff Good, owner/operator of Sal & Mookie’s, says, “Sal & Mookie’s is a huge part of the Jackson community. Every year, we throw our annual Children’s Carnival during Fondren’s Zippity Doo Dah Weekend, which also benefits Friends of Children’s Hospital. When Kendall with Inspiration Mississippi came to us with this idea to benefit the hospital during National Ice Cream Month, we knew that this would be another perfect way to show our commitment to this community and our kids. We hope that ‘Ice Cream with Friends’ becomes an annual event in the future.” As part of the fun, Sal & Mookie’s had a few special guests visit to get their Batson Sundae! A group of athletes representing the Mississippi State University football team, the women’s volleyball team, the men’s basketball team, and others were in town to visit children at Batson Children’s Hospital. While they were there, they played games with the kids, visited many hospital rooms, and signed autographs. After spending a fun afternoon at the hospital, they stopped by Sal & Mookie’s for a Batson Sundae. A big thank you to the Mississippi State Athletic Department for supporting Ice Cream with Friends and always bringing a smile to the faces of the children at Batson Children’s Hospital! It’s that time of the year again! It’s time for SummerHouse’s Back Door Sale this Friday and Saturday, July 21st and 22nd! “This sale is an annual event that our customers have grown to really love,” smiles Laurel Donahoo with SummerHouse. “It is highly anticipated and people start lining up outside the door for the sale hours before it starts,” continues Donahoo. At the sale you will find incredible deals on so many items! “Some of these items we’ve either had too long, have received slightly damaged, or were ordered in too large a quantity,” says Donahoo. One item of note says Donahoo is that “the sale is NOT at our storefront”! The sale is being held on Wilson Drive in Ridgeland by Shapley’s Restaurant. She also says, “the earlier you come, the better selection you will have.” The sale is from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. We’ve included a few pictures of some of the items that will be at the sale. You can also search on Instagram for the hashtag #SHBackDoorSale and see pictures of more items for sale. “This sale is a fun couple of days for us and for our customers,” says Donahoo. “We hope to see a lot of people there shopping for great deals!” For more information on SummerHouse, please visit their website here. {Blog post by Jill Dale and a special thank you to SummerHouse for these sneak peak pictures!}
