If you love to support local, and we know y’all do, then Jackson Indie Music Weekend is the perfect festival for you! “What is JIMWeekend,” you ask.  It’s a four day event that celebrates Central Mississippi’s budding independent musicians by allowing them to do what they do best. And this weekend is packed with some amazing performers. JIMWeekend will be featuring 20 new artists, and they’ve expanded to four different stages this year including venues like the Ecoshed and Fondren Park.

Your ticket grants you access to each act throughout the weekend.  The JIM team has vetted artists with diverse musical backgrounds, so you’re sure to hear a new sound that you’ll want to add to your favorite playlist.  Everything kicks off  Thursday, June 3rd and rolls through Sunday, June 6th. Vendors will be onsite at each location and you are welcome to bring blankets, chairs, and your favorite snacks. Pepsi Pops is this Friday, June 4th, and we’ll be celebrating 40 years of this symphonic event thanks to their major sponsor, Brown Bottling Group. This year you can expect a variety of pop standards, Broadway tunes, Americana, and marches to be featured. And it wouldn’t be Pepsi Pops without the pops! The evening will be wrapped up with a beautiful fireworks display over the Reservoir and under the stars. It’s the perfect event for the whole family! Bring blankets, chairs, and your favorite eats. Tickets are only available online.  To purchase, head to the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra’s website.  Let the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra soundtrack your summer by joining them for the 40th Pepsi Pops Concert.

It’s Memorial Day Weekend and we know you want to pack the weekend with as much fun as possible! If you find yourself in or around Louisville, we suggest visiting the 40th Annual Red Hills Festival.  The Festival starts with the Friday Night Street Party followed by the Annual Red Hills Festival on Saturday, May 29th. There you see local artists and vendors on full display, and you’ll be able to get anything from handmade jewelry, candles, furniture, outdoor art, and much more. Would it be a Mississippi festival if there weren’t amazing eats?! You can expect dozens of vendors and a wide variety of cuisines, so there should be a little something to please everyone’s appetite! If that hasn’t reeled you in, maybe the Red Hills Car Show will.  Check out over 100 cars and trucks of all makes and models. There’s a variety of judging categories, so you are sure to see some one-of-a-kind entries this year. To top it all off, there is a 5K Run and a Fun Run starting in downtown Louisville. There will definitely be something for everyone all Red Hills Festival needs is you! You can head to the Louisville/Winston County, MS Chamber of Commerce website, and don’t forget to tag us in all your photos if you make it out there!

Hattiesburg is celebrating 22 years of crawfish, music, art, and community on the 22nd.  That’s right, this year’s Annual Downtown Crawfish Jam (DCJ) is back and better than ever! The DCJ is one of several fun neighborhood events hosted by the Hattiesburg Historic Neighborhood throughout the year and serves as their largest fundraiser for the Walthall Foundation. All proceeds will be reinvested into the downtown Hattiesburg area through Historic Preservation Projects, upkeep, and more.
Festivities will kick off at 11am at Walthall Park, and you can expect a day full of live music and a stomach full of good eats and drinks. Included in the ticket price is admission to this killer event along with access to all musical acts and all-you-can-eat crawfish, burgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and more. This is, of course, a family friendly event complete with a Kids Zone.  They will not be selling tickets the day of the event, so be sure to purchase tickets for you and your whole crew in advance. It’s going to be a nice sunshiny weekend, perfect for the 22nd Annual Downtown Crawfish Jam. For more information, head to the Visit Hattiesburg website or you can purchase your tickets on Eventbrite.
