5/13/2021

The sun is out and beach plans have been booked. We want to make sure you check off one of the most important things from your packing list: sunscreen.  Not to be a downer, but every time you take a walk, catch some fresh air, or layout poolside, you’re exposing yourself to harmful UV radiation.  The best way to protect your gorgeous face is to slather on some broad-spectrum sunscreen in the morning and reapply as needed throughout the day.  We asked our friends at SKIN the Spa at Runnels Center for their top picks. We’ve listed all five below.  And when you’re ready to pick some up, head to SKIN in Flowood, MS, or give them a call at 601-348-7984.

1. Zo Skin Health: Daily Sheer Broad Spectrum Sunscreen
First up we have this Zo Skin Health Daily Sheer Broad Spectrum Sunscreen.  Not only is it SPF 50, but it’s also waterproof. It dries quickly with a sheer matte finish to shield against UVA/UVB and IR-A rays, and HEV light. This protective and hydrating formula is great for your pool and beach days.

2. Revision Skincare: Intellishade Original
Try to not get too excited with this one.  It is an anti-aging tinted daily moisturizer with sunscreen. Yes, we heard the Hallelujah Choir too.  Intellishade Original has broad-spectrum SPF 45 and is formulated to correct, protect, conceal, brighten and hydrate skin. It prevents visible signs of aging and enhances skin’s natural moisture barrier, improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and brightens and evens skin tone while reducing the appearance of redness. To top it all off, it also protects skin from UVA/UVB radiation.

3. Zo Skin Health: Sunscreen + Primer
Knock out two birds with one bottle.  The Zo Skin Health Sunscreen + Primer hydrates and doubles as a makeup primer for a smooth matte finish, diminishing skin imperfections. With this, you’ll be protected from harmful rays and your makeup will look flawless. Sounds pretty dreamy to us!

4. Obagi Medical: Sun Shield Tint
This bad boy is an upgrade to your tinted moisturizer.  It protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays while adding that hint of warmth to your skin.  It has an SPF of 50 and has infrared defense to help buffer the skin from heat-derived oxidative stress.

5. Supergoop: Unseen Sunscreen
Last, but certainly not least, we have Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen. This is a totally invisible, weightless, scentless sunscreen with SPF 40 that leaves a velvety finish. This innovative, antioxidant-rich multitasker has a unique oil-free formula that glides onto skin while providing ultimate protection.

Something new is cooking at the District at Eastover! Jackson’s staple pizza joint, Sal and Mookies, has made the move and they are now open.  The beautifully renovated space will be serving up all of your favorites from New York-style slices to decadent scoops of your favorite ice cream. This first week, their doors are open for dine-in only, so they’ll have time to get moving and grooving and tossing up some of the finest pizzas you ever did see.  When you’re ready you can pop in and take a seat at one of their high-top tables, or get nice and comfy in the outdoor lounge area.  Where ever you decided to sit, we encourage you to COME HUNGRY! While Sal and Mookies is in a new building, they’re still whipping up their hearty portions with their signature family feel.  We know, we know, your mouth is watering. Scroll through some of the photos of their beautiful restaurant, courtesy of owner Jeff Good. And when you go, tell them Inspiration Mississippi sent you.
