Stork On the Stoop {Local Love}

Dendy McDavid, a busy mama of four, created Stork on the Stoop as a result of a personal need in support and guidance to prepare her existing family with the arrival of their newest baby.  Dendy and her husband, like so many parents growing their families, were less anxious about having an infant around and more concerned with hor to positively prepare their children for the changes that were coming.  Insert Stork on the Stoop... it's a storybook that includes a 12 inch plush stork that brings the story to life.  In addition, it also provides resources to plan surprise deliveries from the stork with minimal effort.  "I'm excited to share it with you.  I know Stork on the Stoop will create a smooth and enjoyable transition for your family too," says Dendy.

"Right after Cyrena's first birthday party, we found out we were expecting. Nineteen to 20 months apart, we just said, okay, we're going to roll with this. She'll just drag this little guy around." -- Molly Gee Webster

"We were wanting to have a second child.  We were very nervous about it because Hadley is very needy of our attention.  Her relationship with mommy and daddy isn't going to change." -- Heather Woodson

"When you're a first time mom, there's so much support.  There are tons of products.  You've had friends who have been there before and can tell you the best bottle that you need or the pacifier that you need.  Then when you're pregnant with the second child you don't know how your child is going to react to getting a sibling!" -- Lauren McDavid

"We loved having little happies or presents delivered along the way from his stork that would remind him that he's still special and still important, and there is going to be a new baby but it's going to be a positive thing; it's going to be a good thing."  -- Mindy Kern

        Move over Black Friday, and bring on Small Business Saturday! This Saturday, November 28th is Small Business Saturday where you’ll not only be able to knock out your Christmas list, but you’ll also be able to help local businesses thrive in this crazy market.  The Society for Human Resource Management found that over 60 percent of small businesses have experienced revenue loss since the pandemic. This Saturday we get to change that number for the better. “There is a tremendous impact made when we shop at businesses in our communities – these are the locally owned mom-and-pop stores, boutiques, gift stores, craft shops and eateries that provide unique products and a personal touch,” Jovita Carranza, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, told NBC News. “Supporting these businesses that are pivoting and retooling helps to strengthen, rebuild, and boost our economy.” Hello, shopping that helps people… where do we sign up?!

       Renaissance at Colony Park hosts over a dozen local businesses, so it’s the perfect place to shop small. From children’s clothes, art, gift baskets, gift wrapping, local eats, and more there’s no shortage of shops to help check things off your list.  Stores open as early as 8am, so grab your friends and a mask and head to Renaissance this Saturday. For more information, head to Renaissance's website or shopsmall.com.

      Susie Morgan, owner and founder of Sterling Hall, throws her heart into every event ensuring each client leaves wanting to relive their day over and over again. “My husband and I booked her new venue, Sterling Hall when it was just boards and a vision,” bride Karlie Knight shares. “Susie assured us that the following year on our wedding date it would be spectacular and that it was! She delivered mouth-watering food and breathtaking floral arrangements. She and her team were all hands on deck from early morning until the night was complete. I could not have dreamed of a better night.” If that doesn’t sell you, maybe these photos will!

        Are you looking for a dreamy venue that captures the natural beauty of Mississippi? Look no further than the Reed House at Live Oaks. Nestled in the 130 acre Live Oaks Golf Club, lies 1,500 square feet of outdoor entertaining space. Beneath a canopy of the live oak trees, you’ll find a formal pavilion connected to the outdoor ceremony area by stone pathways. Not only is the landscape picturesque, but it also lends itself to be the perfect backdrop for events of any size.
        Every inch of this space was designed with you in mind. The Reed House provides a blank canvas with custom lighting, clean lines, and the beauty of nature that you can make your own. There are spaces to set up bar and food areas, landscaping that invites guests to explore, and a fire pit that provides an intimate space to wind down toward the end of your night.  "We love to watch our client’s eyes light up when they see the area for the first time and when they talk about all the possibilities that they have envisioned for the space," owner Kathryn Morris says. Upon booking the venue, their 11,000 square foot event hall is also reserved should the Mississippi weather decide to not cooperate (we love a plan B). Don’t just take our word for it. Book a tour of this stunning venue today! Head to their website or call 601.982.1231 to book.
