We all love the Craftsmen's Guild of Mississippi for their support of Mississippi's Artists and Craftsmen. You can always find the perfect gift for someone while also supporting a local artist! If you have ever entered those doors and thought, "this would be the perfect place to have an event!" you are not mistaken!! The soaring glass windows make you feel like you are in the most gorgeous tree house! Weddings can take place outside with the trees as your backdrop. You can open the glass doors to the terrace, giving yourself plenty of space for your guests to feel comfortable in 2020. Have you set your decorative pumpkins out yet? We think there’s one more you need to add to your Autumn display and the best part is that you and your little ones get to add your own personal flair to it! This Sunday, our friends at Green Oak, Brown Bottling Co, Broad Street Baking Co., and Gifts by KPEP are hosting a “Mommy and Me Pumpkin and Floral Workshop” where you and your kiddos get to make some fabulous, Fall-themed arrangements all while supporting Make-A-Wish. We know you probably have a few questions, so read on for a little Q&A on this weekend’s event!

Q: When and where is this event?
A: The Green Oak Mommy and Me Workshop is taking place this Sunday, October 11th at 3:30pm at Green Oak in Ridgeland.

Q: How much is registration and what’s included?
A: Registration is just $72 for you and one child. With each sign-up, you get 2 pumpkins, florals, a pumpkin cookie and muffin (courtesy of our friends at Broad Street Cafe, beverages from Brown Bottling Co., and a personal lesson on fall arrangements

Q: What if I have multiple kids?
A: There are individual kits available for $25 that you can add on to your initial registration.

Q: Did you mention something about Make-A-Wish?
A: We sure did! A portion of each kit purchased will go toward sweet Saylors, a 4-year-old whose wish is to visit Disney World with her family (we’re not crying, you are)!

Q: Is it COVID safe?
A: Keeping you and your little ones safe is top priority! There will be a limited number of spots in the class to ensure social distancing will be maintained. Each workspace will be safe, sanitized, and ready for y’all to have fun!

Q: What if spots run out or I’m not ready to attend an event?
A: We still have you covered! Should we run out of spots, or maybe you’re not quite ready to attend an in-person event, the class will also be offered online. All you have to do is register, then swing by Green Oak to pick up your decorating kits any time before the event.

Q: I’m sold! How do I register?!
A: Registration is a breeze! All you have to do is Venmo your total amount to Green Oak and note your name and how many kids you’d like to sign up. You can Venmo Green Oak in the app at @CJ-GreenOak

Pinball, live music, hot rods… what more could you need?! All three and more can be found at The Station, a 10,000 square foot venue and classic automobile rental service located in Glucksadt, MS. We are so in love with the space and its story, so much so that we wrote a feature on their grand opening last year. So what has the Station been up to since then?

They’ve been busy embracing these socially distant times by creating a custom to-go menu, hosting socially distant (but rowdy) game day parties, and serving as a hub for local musicians (and free pinball). When you walk through their doors you’ll be welcomed by a high energy staff and a mouth-watering menu. You can even book your next football party in their space. So the next time you find yourself craving a little live music or bread pudding you know where to go - The Station.

Demi and Reid's love story began at Mississippi State University where she played softball and he played baseball. "Hailstate!" laughs Demi. When it came to planning her dream wedding (which, by the way, is an actual dream... look at these photos!), Demi couldn't wait for everyone to see. "I'm not really traditional at all so being able to make my day, my day... it's been unreal. Above all, I'm marrying my best friend and spending our day with all of our people!" smiles Demi.

A Green Oak Christmas

Is it ever too soon to start talking Christmas? We don’t think so, and neither do our friends at Green Oak Garden Center. Green Oak, a Mississippi staple since 1960, is preparing for their annual Christmas Open House and have cordially invited all of you to join in on the Christmas cheer. If you’re like us and can’t wait until the open house, then we have you covered. We got to meet with owner Karen McKie and get the inside scoop on a few things they have planned including decorating services for every type of person. Get your cup of hot cocoa and keep on reading!

Now we know the end of the year can be a busy and stressful time. Why not lighten your load and let Green Oak transform your home into your ideal winter wonderland? If you want your Christmas installed for you, Green Oak offers a home decorating service that includes a complimentary consultation. Mrs. McKie and her team will take a look at all of your decor, assess what can be used and what can be added, and design a custom display just for you. Once they get your thumbs up, they will install your Christmas decor; and at the end of the season, they’ll break it all down for you. Green Oak even has an option to store all of your Christmas trimmings once the season is over -- and all the snow angels say, “Amen!”

Say you’re the type of person who knows exactly what you want when it comes to Christmas decor. In fact, you have it each ornament, wreath, and garland mapped out for every Christmas to come. Then, Green Oak’s leasing program is the service for you. Once you lock in your design with them, Green Oak will install your decor and store it for three years or until you’re ready for something new. Done and done!

If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, Green Oak has you covered. Their garden center offers live trees, wreaths, and garland. The icing on top? They will light your tree and flock it for you, so each branch twinkles with the holiday magic we all know and love. Once your tree is ready, they’ll deliver and install it in your home - stand and all!
