Hey friends! Happy Tuesday! If you haven't noticed by now, October is breast cancer awareness month. It's an annual campaign to raise awareness of the disease. That's why you see PINK everywhere. This year, Bubly Water has partnered with the Susan G. Komen foundation to educate people about the importance of breast self-awareness, encourage early detection of breast cancer, and drive donations to support breast cancer research. They have made limited edition pink cans of the grapefruit flavored Bubly. You may have seen them here on Ellen where they donated $30,000 to the foundation. On every can, there is a code that you can scan that will direct you to a Facebook AR experience and give you access to resources on breast cancer. It will also give you an invitation to make a donation to the foundation as well; PEPSI will donate $100,000 in 2019 to Susan G. Komen regardless of sales. Bubly sparkling water is a product found at Brown Bottling Group here in Mississippi! Make sure you find a can this month and tag us when you do! We'd love to see and repost!

Local Love: Sam Beibers

    For many couples, their wedding day goes by in a flash; overwhelmed with joy and constant conversation, remembering the special moments can be very difficult for a bride and groom. Sam Beibers, a native Mississippian and extremely talented artist, is helping capture those memories through his wonderful live painting.
     Born and raised in Walls, Mississippi, Sam began practicing his artistic skills at the age of three. "My mother was a good artist and would sketch at the kitchen table. I remember climbing up in a chair beside her and in my own primitive way, tried to draw like her. It's not unusual to draw as a child, I think we all do. I just never stopped!" smiles Sam. As an artist, Sam's career has showcased the versatility of his talent. By his mid-twenties, he was the senior illustrator at Mississippi Educational Television. For sixteen years, Sam worked as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer. During his time, he illustrated multiple books, designed print advertisements, and completed over two to three hundred drawing of animal species for the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks and the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science.

    Throughout his entire career, Sam has never stopped working on his own personal artwork, spending nights and weekends on his paintings and drawings. A talented portrait artist, clients continue to turn to Sam when they need pieces commissioned of their family and pets. His ability to represent the likeness of his subjects through his work makes Sam an excellent artist to capture a bride and groom on their big day. "I really enjoy the experience of painting a couple at their wedding. I stay focused on capturing the details of the moment they've asked me to paint but I thoroughly enjoy chatting with guests who come up to watch me work," says Sam.
     Though his subject matter varies widely depending on the task at hand, one thing has remained constant. "I am constantly sketching and drawing; I keep three sketchbooks at one time, one at work, one at home, and one in my car. In the past 30 years I have filled over 40 sketchbooks. My advice to any aspiring artist is if you like to draw, just get after it! It does not matter if you think you're any good or not, what matters is you enjoying the process!" smiles Sam.

Cristina and Lucas {Wedding}

10/8/2019

Picture
     Cristina and Lucas took advantage of the temperature Mississippi falls for their November celebration. "We knew we wanted to do an outdoor wedding that had a very organic and romantic feel," says Cristina. Providence Hill Farm was the perfect venue to bring this vision to life. The details of the wedding reflected Cristina's simple, elegant, and timeless style. Florals composed of mainly whites and rich greens paired beautifully with a gorgeous slate blue to create a stunning color palette. The ceremony took place outside where the couple exchanged vows underneath a beautiful arch constructed from greenery and accented with white hydrangeas. "My favorite parts of my wedding day were the moments where I sat back and reminded myself to soak it all in- all the happiness, excitement, and the love coming from being surrounded by all my favorite people," smiles Cristina.
