1 Peter 5:6
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
Without an ongoing appraisal of my own sin condition, I will ignore the grace that liberates my soul. In this Lenten season, I have decided to know the truth about myself so that I may experience the truth of God’s mercy, grace and love in Christ.
Joel 2:12-14
12 “Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” 13 Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. 14 Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave behind a blessing— grain offerings and drink offerings for the LORD your God.
Because of Christ’s atonement for my very real sin, I can enter humbly into the Father’s presence and experience the exchange of love that springs forth in my repentance. I am His and He is mine. His Holy Spirit has delivered to me the truth of my sin, and that truth has wrecked me. I have nowhere to go but to the Father.
This season, I pray that you feel the Spirit delivering to you the conviction that leads to liberation. May you know and experience the height and depth of His perfect love which is Jesus Christ, who gave of Himself on the cross so that we may dwell with God forever.
